At Intrepid we like ‘real’ travel. In fact, it's all we do. We go off the beaten track to meet real people and explore very real cultures. We travel on anything and everything that moves, from trains and riverboats to rickshaws and elephants but not on a tour bus. We stay in a wide variety of accommodation, from family owned guesthouses and homestays to national park lodges and Maharaja’s palaces but never in an international chain hotel. We travel in very small groups - averaging just 9 travelers and never more than 12. This allows us the freedom and flexibility to keep every day different. At times we’ll visit the ‘icons’ like Angkor Wat or Machu Picchu but often it is the smaller, ‘real’ things that people remember - the places they’d never heard of and the tastes they’d never tasted.

It’s all new and original. It’s real.

When we started traveling this way 15 years ago, people thought we were mad! But we have grown, relying largely on word of mouth from our past travelers. This year we will have about 30,000 travelers join us from all over the world. It seems we’ve gone from mad to cool! But we hope it’s a trend that continues because when you travel like this, apart from having the best vacation you’ll ever have, you really learn something about the world. And more often than not, you learn something about yourself too.
